8 oz (225g) pasta (your choice: fettuccine, penne, or linguine)

1 tbsp olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes

1 cup heavy cream

1 teaspoon dried oregano

Salt and pepper to taste

1 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped (reserve some for garnish)

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving

Red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

Instructions
 

Cook the Pasta:

    In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.

      Sauté the Aromatics:

        In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

          Make the Sauce:

            Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir in the dried oregano. Simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

              Add the Cream:
