1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces

1 cup buttermilk

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust based on spice preference)

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

Cooking spray or olive oil spray

Marinate the Chicken: In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Add the chicken pieces, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight for enhanced flavor.

    Prep the Breading Station: In a shallow dish, place the all-purpose flour. In another shallow dish, add the panko breadcrumbs. Take the marinated chicken out of the fridge.

      Bread the Chicken: Using one hand for wet and the other for dry, first dip each piece of chicken into the flour, shaking off any excess. Then, transfer the coated chicken to the panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to ensure an even coating.

        Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.

          Cook the Nuggets: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the breaded chicken nuggets in a single layer in the basket, making sure not to overcrowd them (you may need to work in batches). Spray the tops of the nuggets lightly with more cooking spray.

            Air Fry: Cook the nuggets at 400°F (200°C) for 10-12 minutes, flipping them halfway through. They should be golden brown and crispy. Ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) for safe consumption.

              Serve: Remove the nuggets from the air fryer and let them rest for a minute. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce, such as honey mustard or barbecue sauce.
