Ingredients

1 lb (450g) store-bought gnocchi

1 tablespoon olive oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

½ cup heavy cream

Salt and black pepper to taste

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving

Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Cook the gnocchi: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the gnocchi according to package instructions. Usually, they are done when they float to the surface. Drain and set aside.

Prepare the sauce: In a large oven-safe skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant.

Combine ingredients: Add the crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes, and season with salt and black pepper. Stir well to combine and let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes.

Add cream and cheese: Lower the heat and stir in the heavy cream, mixing until the sauce becomes rich and creamy. Then add the grated Parmesan cheese, stirring until melted and combined.

Combine gnocchi with sauce: Gently fold the cooked gnocchi into the sauce, making sure they are evenly coated.

Bake the dish: Sprinkle extra Parmesan cheese over the top if desired, then transfer the skillet (or transfer to a baking dish if your skillet isn't oven-safe) to the oven. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until bubbly and golden on top.

Serve: Remove from the oven and let it cool for a couple of minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves and an extra sprinkle of Parmesan cheese before serving.
