Ingredients

2 overripe bananas

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Mash Bananas: In a medium bowl, mash the overripe bananas until smooth. You should have about 1 cup of mashed banana.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Mix until well blended. Add the mashed bananas, egg, and vanilla extract, stirring until combined.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Add Chocolate Chips and Nuts: Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Scoop Cookies: Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers may look slightly underbaked—it will firm up as it cools.

Cool: Remove from the oven and let the cookies sit on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Enjoy: Once cooled, enjoy your delicious banana bread chocolate chip cookies with a glass of milk or your favorite beverage!
