Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast

1 tsp salt

1 cup whole milk

1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

1 tbsp vanilla extract

1 cup packed brown sugar

2 tbsp ground cinnamon

1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)

1 cup cream cheese, softened (for frosting)

2 cups powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)

2-3 tbsp milk (adjust for frosting consistency)

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. In a small saucepan, warm the milk and melted butter until it’s warm to the touch (not boiling). Add the warm milk mixture, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.

Knead the Dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

Make the Filling: In a medium bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon together. Roll out the risen dough on a floured surface into a rectangle, approximately 16x12 inches. Spread the softened butter over the entire surface of the dough and evenly sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.

Roll and Slice: Starting from one end, carefully roll the dough into a log. Once rolled, pinch the seam to seal it, then slice the log into 12 equal pieces (about 1.5 inches each).

Second Rise: Place the cinnamon roll slices in a greased baking pan, leaving some space between them. Cover with a cloth and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes until puffy.

Preheat Oven: While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Bake the Rolls: Once risen, bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Prepare the Frosting: While the rolls are baking, beat the cream cheese in a mixing bowl until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth and desired consistency is achieved.

Frost the Rolls: When the rolls are done baking, remove them from the oven and let them cool for about 5 minutes. Generously spread the cream cheese frosting over warm rolls and enjoy!
