Ingredients

2 cups whole milk

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)

2 cups ice cubes

Whipped cream, for topping

Chocolate shavings or mini marshmallows, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Heat the Milk: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the whole milk and heavy cream. Heat until warm but not boiling, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

Mix Cocoa and Sugar: In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, granulated sugar, and salt.

Make the Chocolate Mix: Gradually add the dry mixture to the warm milk while whisking to combine. Continue whisking until the cocoa and sugar are fully dissolved. Stir in the vanilla extract and chocolate chips, mixing until the chocolate chips are fully melted and the mixture is smooth.

Cool the Mixture: Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the chocolate mixture to cool to room temperature. For faster chilling, you can transfer the mixture to a large bowl and place it in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.

Blend with Ice: Once cooled, add the chocolate mixture to a blender along with the ice cubes. Blend on high until the mixture is completely smooth and frothy.

Serve: Pour the frozen hot chocolate into tall glasses. Top generously with whipped cream and add chocolate shavings or mini marshmallows if desired.

Garnish and Enjoy: Optionally, drizzle with chocolate syrup and serve immediately with a straw or a long spoon.
