Ingredients

For the Biscuits:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes

3/4 cup milk

For the Sausage Gravy:

1 pound breakfast sausage (bulk or casings removed)

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 cups whole milk

1 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Optional: crushed red pepper flakes for a kick

For the Pizza Assembly:

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

2 large eggs

Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Make the Biscuits:

    - Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).

      - In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

        - Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your hands until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

          - Pour in the milk and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

            - Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently pat it into a 1-inch thick round. Cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter or a glass.

              - Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly.

                Prepare the Sausage Gravy:

                  - In a large skillet, cook the breakfast sausage over medium heat until browned and crumbled. Drain excess fat if necessary.

                    - Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage, stirring well to combine. Cook for an additional 2 minutes to eliminate the raw flour taste.

                      - Gradually pour in the milk while continuously stirring. Cook the mixture until it thickens, about 4-6 minutes.

                        - Season with black pepper, salt, garlic powder, and onion powder. If you like heat, add in the crushed red pepper flakes. Stir well, then remove from the heat.

                          Assemble the Breakfast Pizza:

                            - Reduce the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C).

                              - On a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, break the baked biscuits into smaller pieces and spread them out to form a crust.

                                - Create a slight lip around the edges to contain the gravy.

                                  - Evenly spread the sausage gravy over the biscuit crust.

                                    - Sprinkle the cheddar and mozzarella cheese over the top.

                                      - Carefully crack the two large eggs over the pizza, making sure they are evenly spaced.

                                        Bake the Pizza:

                                          - Place the assembled breakfast pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the eggs are set to your liking and the cheese is bubbly and golden.

                                            Serve:

                                              - Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a minute. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Slice and serve hot for a delicious breakfast surprise!
