Ingredients

4 ripe tomatoes, sliced

8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced

1 cup fresh basil leaves

1/2 cup balsamic vinegar

2 tablespoons olive oil

Salt and pepper, to taste

Optional: 1 tablespoon honey (for sweetness)

Instructions

Prepare the Balsamic Glaze: In a small saucepan, bring the balsamic vinegar to a gentle boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens and coats the back of a spoon. If using honey, stir it in during the last 5 minutes of cooking. Remove from heat and let it cool.

Layer the Salad: On a large platter, alternate layers of sliced tomatoes and fresh mozzarella cheese. Between each layer, tuck in a basil leaf to infuse the flavors. Continue layering until all ingredients are used.

Drizzle & Season: Once assembled, drizzle the olive oil over the salad. Then, lightly sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste for added flavor.

Add the Glaze: Finally, drizzle the cooled balsamic glaze generously over the entire salad for that sweet and tangy finish.

Serve: Let the salad sit for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld before serving.
