Ingredients

For the Filling:

1 lb ground beef

1 small onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

1 cup beef broth

1 tablespoon olive oil

For the Cheddar Bay Biscuit Topping:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon onion powder

1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

3/4 cup whole milk

1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning (optional)

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Cook the Beef: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and garlic, sautéing until translucent. Add the ground beef, cooking until browned. Drain any excess fat.

Flavor the Filling: Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper. Add the frozen mixed vegetables and beef broth. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 5 minutes until the mixture is slightly thickened. Remove from heat.

Prepare the Biscuit Dough: In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and Old Bay seasoning (if using). Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.

Incorporate Milk: Pour in the milk gradually, mixing until just combined. Do not overwork the dough; it should be slightly lumpy.

Assemble Cobbler: Pour the beef mixture into a greased 9-inch baking dish. Drop spoonfuls of the biscuit dough over the top, leaving some space between each spoonful to allow for rising.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the biscuit topping is golden brown and cooked through.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.
