Ingredients

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon sea salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened (2 sticks)

3/4 cup granulated sugar

3/4 cup brown sugar, packed

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 large eggs

2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and sea salt. Set aside.

Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together using an electric mixer on medium speed until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Add Eggs and Vanilla: Add in the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract until well incorporated.

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Be careful not to overmix!

Fold in Chocolate Chips and Nuts: Gently fold in the semisweet chocolate chips and nuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the cookie dough.

Scoop the Dough: Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop generous balls of dough (about 2 tablespoons each) onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Bake: Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers appear slightly underbaked. This helps achieve the chewy texture.

Cool on Baking Sheet: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Enjoy: Serve warm, or store in an airtight container to enjoy later. These cookies will remain chewy for days!
