Ingredients

1 lb Brussels sprouts, halved

4 slices of bacon, chopped

3 tablespoons olive oil

¼ cup balsamic vinegar

2 tablespoons maple syrup (optional for sweetness)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

Prepare the Brussels Sprouts: In a large bowl, toss the halved Brussels sprouts with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using) until evenly coated.

Cook the Bacon: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. This should take about 5-7 minutes. Once crispy, use a slotted spoon to transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess grease while retaining some of the bacon fat in the skillet.

Combine Ingredients: In the same skillet with the bacon fat, add the Brussels sprouts and cook them for about 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they start to caramelize slightly.

Add Balsamic and Maple: Pour the balsamic vinegar and maple syrup (if using) over the Brussels sprouts and toss to coat them well. Return the cooked bacon to the skillet and mix everything thoroughly.

Roast the Brussels Sprouts: Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking sheet, spreading it out evenly. Roast in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the Brussels sprouts are crispy, caramelized, and tender. Stir halfway through to ensure even roasting.

Serve: Remove from the oven and garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving. Enjoy your crispy balsamic Brussels sprouts with bacon as a delicious side dish or a savory snack!
