Crispy Chicken Tacos with Avocado Lime Crema

1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 cup buttermilk

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 tsp paprika

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust for spice)

1 tsp salt

1 tsp black pepper

Oil for frying (vegetable or canola oil)

For the Tacos:

8 small corn tortillas

1 cup shredded lettuce

1/2 cup diced tomatoes

1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

1/2 cup crumbled queso fresco (optional)

Lime wedges for garnish

For the Avocado Lime Crema:

1 ripe avocado

1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt

Juice of 1 lime

1 clove garlic, minced

Salt and pepper to taste

Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, place the chicken breasts and cover them with buttermilk. Let them marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour (or overnight for more flavor).

    Prepare the Coating: In a shallow dish, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

      Fry the Chicken: Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat (about 350°F/175°C). Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, shaking off the excess, then dredge each piece in the flour mixture to coat thoroughly. Fry the chicken pieces in batches for about 5-7 minutes each side or until golden and crispy. Once cooked, transfer the chicken to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

        Prepare the Avocado Lime Crema: In a blender or food processor, combine the avocado, sour cream (or Greek yogurt), lime juice, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Blend until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning as needed, and set aside.
