Ingredients

1 lb chicken breast, cut into strips

1 cup buttermilk

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp paprika

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp salt

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup breadcrumbs (Panko for extra crunch)

1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for a kick)

Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

Marinate the Chicken: In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, black pepper, and salt. Add the chicken strips, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or up to overnight for best results).

Prepare the Breading Station: In two separate shallow dishes, place the flour in one and combine the breadcrumbs with cayenne pepper in the other. This will be your breading setup.

Coat the Chicken: Remove the chicken strips from the marinade, allowing excess buttermilk to drip off. First, dip each strip into the flour, shaking off the excess, then into the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to ensure the breadcrumbs adhere well.

Heat the Oil: In a large skillet, heat about 1/2 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

Fry the Tenders: Carefully add a few chicken tenders to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F / 75°C). Remove and place on a wire rack or paper towel-lined plate to drain.

Serve: Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces (ranch, honey mustard, or ketchup) and enjoy these crispy, flavorful chicken tenders!
