Instructions

Marinate the Chicken:

In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken strips and ensure they're well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.

      Prepare the Breading Station:

Set up your breading station by placing the flour on one plate, and mixing the panko breadcrumbs and cayenne pepper (if using) on another plate.

          Bread the Chicken:

Remove each chicken strip from the marinade, allowing excess liquid to drip off. Dredge the chicken in flour, making sure it's evenly coated. Then dip it back into the buttermilk and finally roll it in the panko breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere the crumbs.

              Heat the Oil:

In a large skillet, pour enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom (about 1/2 inch deep) and heat over medium-high heat until shimmering.

                  Fry the Chicken Tenders:

Carefully place the breaded chicken strips into the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer the cooked tenders to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

                      Make the Honey Mustard Dip:

In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, honey, apple cider vinegar, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Adjust seasoning to taste.

                          Serve:

Arrange the crispy chicken tenders on a serving platter alongside the honey mustard dip. Enjoy your meal warm!
