Ingredients

1 lb (450g) large button or cremini mushrooms, cleaned and trimmed

2 tablespoons olive oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon black pepper

¼ cup breadcrumbs (panko recommended for extra crispiness)

Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Mushrooms: Ensure the mushrooms are clean and dry. If they are particularly large, you may want to slice them in half or quarters to ensure even cooking.

Make the Garlic Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, onion powder, dried oregano, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to create a flavorful marinade.

Coat the Mushrooms: Add the mushrooms to the bowl with the garlic mixture. Toss until all mushrooms are evenly coated in the marinade. Allow them to sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.

Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes. This step is crucial for achieving maximum crispiness.

Bread the Mushrooms: After marinating, sprinkle the breadcrumbs over the mushrooms. Toss gently to ensure they are dusted evenly; this will create a crispy coating during air frying.

Air Fry the Mushrooms: Place the coated mushrooms in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not crowded (you may need to do this in batches). Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking, until they are golden brown and crispy.

Garnish and Serve: Once cooked, remove the mushrooms from the air fryer and transfer them to a serving plate. Optionally, sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley for a vibrant finish. Serve immediately as a delectable appetizer or side dish!
