Ingredients

4 cups of day-old bread (French, Italian, or sourdough)

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

4 cloves of garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried parsley

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Optional: 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes for a spicy kick

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

Prepare the Bread: Cut the day-old bread into 1-inch cubes. You can use a mix of different breads for varied textures and flavors.

Make the Garlic Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, minced garlic, dried parsley, oregano, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using) until well combined.

Coat the Bread Cubes: In a large bowl, toss the bread cubes with the garlic butter mixture until each piece is well-coated. Make sure the garlic butter reaches every nook and cranny of the bread.

Spread on Baking Sheet: Evenly spread the coated bread cubes on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer. This will help them crisp up nicely.

Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the croutons are golden brown and crunchy. Keep an eye on them towards the end to prevent burning.

Cool and Store: Once baked, remove the croutons from the oven and let them cool completely on the baking sheet. They will continue to firm up as they cool. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
