Ingredients

1 lb (450g) beef sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups fresh broccoli florets

1 red bell pepper, sliced into strips

2 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch ginger, grated

¼ cup soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon water

½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for added spice)

Cooked jasmine rice or noodles, for serving

Sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

Prep the Sauce: In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and water. Whisk together until the cornstarch is dissolved. Set aside.

Marinate the Beef: In a medium bowl, add the thinly sliced beef and toss it with half of the soy sauce mixture (reserve the other half for cooking). Let it marinate for about 10 minutes while you prepare the veggies.

Cook the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and sear for about 3-4 minutes until browned. Make sure not to overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if necessary. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

Stir-Fry the Veggies: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil. Add garlic, ginger, and red bell pepper, stirring continuously for about 2 minutes until fragrant. Then, add broccoli florets and stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes until they are bright green and tender-crisp.

Combine and Thicken: Return the beef to the skillet with the veggies. Pour the reserved soy sauce mixture over the beef and veggies. Add red pepper flakes if using. Stir everything together and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat the beef and broccoli.

Serve: Remove from heat and serve immediately over cooked jasmine rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions for an extra pop of flavor.
