Ingredients

1 pound ground turkey

1 cup fresh spinach, finely chopped

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup finely chopped onion

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 large egg

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for a little kick)

1/2 cup marinara sauce (for serving)

Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Mix the Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, chopped spinach, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix until well combined but do not over-mix, or the meatballs will be tough.

Form the Meatballs: With clean hands, grab a portion of the mixture and roll it into meatballs about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each meatball.

Bake the Meatballs: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and golden brown on the outside. You can check for doneness with a meat thermometer; it should read at least 165°F (75°C).

Prepare the Sauce: While the meatballs are baking, warm the marinara sauce in a small saucepan over medium heat.

Serve: Once the meatballs are cooked, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly. Serve with warm marinara sauce drizzled over the top, and garnish with fresh basil leaves. These meatballs pair nicely with whole wheat spaghetti or a side of veggies.
