1 lb (450g) fresh asparagus, trimmed

4 tbsp unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tsp fresh lemon juice

1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a kick)

Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

    Prepare the Asparagus: Rinse the asparagus under cold water and trim the woody ends (about 1-2 inches off the bottom). Pat them dry with a paper towel.

      Make Garlic Butter: In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned. Remove from heat and stir in the lemon juice and red pepper flakes (if using).

        Coat the Asparagus: In a large bowl, toss the asparagus with the garlic butter mixture until they are evenly coated. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

          Arrange on Baking Sheet: Spread the garlic butter asparagus in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

            Add Parmesan: Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the asparagus.

              Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the asparagus is tender and the cheese is golden and bubbly.
