To begin crafting your garlic butter shrimp tacos, start by preparing the shrimp. Rinse the shrimp under cold water to remove any residual sand or impurities. This step is crucial for ensuring your dish is clean and fresh. After rinsing, pat the shrimp dry with paper towels. The moisture left on the shrimp can hinder proper seasoning and cooking, leading to a less-than-ideal texture.

Ingredients

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 garlic cloves, minced

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon chili powder

Salt and pepper, to taste

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

8 small corn or flour tortillas

1 cup shredded green cabbage

1 ripe avocado, sliced

½ cup fresh cilantro, chopped

1 lime, cut into wedges

Hot sauce, for serving (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Shrimp: Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat dry. Season them with smoked paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper to taste.

Make Garlic Butter: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, but be careful not to let it brown.

Cook the Shrimp: Add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they turn pink and opaque. Drizzle with fresh lemon juice and remove from heat.

Warm the Tortillas: In another skillet or directly over an open flame, warm the tortillas for about 30 seconds on each side until pliable.

Assemble the Tacos: Take a warm tortilla and add a generous scoop of garlic butter shrimp. Top with shredded cabbage, avocado slices, and chopped cilantro.

Serve: Squeeze fresh lime juice over the tacos and serve with lime wedges and hot sauce, if desired.
