Puff pastry is a remarkable culinary creation known for its unique characteristics. This flaky pastry is achieved through a process called lamination, where layers of dough and butter are repeatedly folded and rolled out. The result is a pastry that puffs up beautifully when baked, creating a light and airy texture that complements a wide range of fillings.

Ingredients

1 package of pre-made puff pastry (2 sheets)

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped

1 tablespoon fresh basil, finely chopped

1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

Prepare the Herb Mixture: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, basil, thyme, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly.

Roll Out the Puff Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out each sheet of puff pastry to about 1/8-inch thickness. Cut each sheet into 1-inch strips using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.

Brush with Herb Butter: Take one strip of puff pastry and brush it generously with the prepared garlic herb mixture. Sprinkle a tablespoon of grated Parmesan cheese on top.

Twist the Pastry: Carefully hold each end of the strip and twist it a few times to create a spiral. Place the twisted pastry on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat the process with the remaining strips.

Apply Egg Wash: Using a brush, apply a thin layer of the beaten egg over each twist to give them a golden color during baking.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the twists are puffed and golden brown.

Cool and Serve: Remove the twists from the oven and let them cool slightly. Serve warm as an appetizer or snack. Enjoy your Garlic Herb Garden Twists!
