Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

4 slices of thick-cut bacon, chopped

1 medium onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 cups egg noodles

1 ½ cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

1 cup sour cream

1 cup beef broth

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon smoked paprika

½ teaspoon mustard powder

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Optional toppings: sliced pickles, tomatoes, and more cheese

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.

Cook the bacon: In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the bacon and drain on paper towels, leaving the bacon fat in the skillet.

Sauté the beef: In the same skillet with the bacon fat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 6-8 minutes. Break it up with a spatula as it cooks. Drain any excess grease.

Add aroma: Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef and cook until the onions are translucent, approximately 3-4 minutes.

Combine and cook noodles: In a large pot, cook the egg noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Mix the filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked beef and onion mixture, cooked noodles, crispy bacon, sour cream, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and mustard powder. Stir until everything is well combined.

Layer in the dish: Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top.

Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and lightly golden.

Garnish and Serve: Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and any optional toppings like sliced pickles or tomatoes. Serve warm and enjoy!
