Ingredients

For the Pizza Dough:

2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast

¾ cup warm water (110°F)

1 tbsp sugar

1 tsp salt

1 tbsp olive oil

For the Toppings:

½ cup fig jam (store-bought or homemade)

1 ½ cups fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced

½ cup goat cheese, crumbled

1 tbsp balsamic glaze

Fresh arugula or basil for garnish

Salt and pepper to taste

Optional: chopped walnuts for texture

Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

    - In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.

      - In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.

        - Mix until a dough forms. Knead on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

          - Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

            Preheat the Oven:

              - Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat as well.

                Shape the Pizza:

                  - Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Shape it into a round pizza crust (about 12 inches in diameter) or divide it for smaller personal pizzas.

                    - Transfer the shaped dough onto a pizza peel or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

                      Add Toppings:

                        - Spread the fig jam evenly across the surface of the pizza dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

                          - Layer the fresh mozzarella slices over the fig jam, followed by crumbled goat cheese. Drizzle a bit of balsamic glaze on top.

                            - Season with salt and pepper to taste, and sprinkle optional chopped walnuts for an additional crunch.

                              Bake:

                                - If using a pizza stone, carefully slide the pizza onto the stone. If using a baking sheet, place it directly in the oven.

                                  - Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

                                    Serve and Garnish:

                                      - Once baked, remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a minute. Top it with fresh arugula or basil for a peppery kick.

                                        - Drizzle a bit more balsamic glaze if desired, slice, and serve warm.
