Ingredients

1 pound ground beef (or ground turkey for a lighter option)

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup milk

1 large egg

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

1/2 cup honey

1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

1 tablespoon cornstarch (mixed with 1 tablespoon water for thickening)

Chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

Prepare the Meatball Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, milk, egg, minced garlic, onion powder, salt, black pepper, oregano, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Form the Meatballs: Using your hands, scoop out about 2 tablespoons of the meat mixture and roll it into a ball. Place the meatballs on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart. You should get about 20 meatballs.

Bake the Meatballs: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until browned and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 160°F or 71°C).

Make the Honey Garlic Sauce: While the meatballs are baking, prepare the honey garlic sauce. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine honey, soy sauce, and apple cider vinegar. Stir continuously until the mixture begins to simmer.

Thicken the Sauce: Add the cornstarch slurry (cornstarch mixed with water) to the saucepan. Continue to stir for another minute or until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency. Remove from heat.

Coat the Meatballs: Once the meatballs are done baking, carefully transfer them to the saucepan with the honey garlic sauce. Gently toss to coat the meatballs evenly in the sauce.

Serve: Transfer the coated meatballs to a serving platter. Garnish with chopped green onions and sprinkle with sesame seeds for an extra touch.

Enjoy: Serve hot over rice, quinoa, or on their own as an appetizer!
