Ingredients

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 cup creamy peanut butter

1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

1/4 cup crushed peanuts for topping (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Melt the Butter: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Combine Sugar and Eggs: Stir in the sugar into the melted butter until well combined. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, stir in the vanilla extract.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to over-mix.

Add Peanut Butter: In a small bowl, gently warm the peanut butter in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds to make it easier to swirl. Drop spoonfuls of the peanut butter onto the brownie batter and use a knife or skewer to swirl it into the batter without completely mixing it in.

Add Chocolate Chips: If using, sprinkle chocolate chips over the top of the batter for extra richness and indulgence.

Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Optionally, sprinkle crushed peanuts on top. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Cool & Serve: Let the brownies cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into squares and serve.
