Ingredients

1 pound ground turkey (lean)

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (whole wheat or gluten-free)

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 large egg

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup marinara sauce (homemade or store-bought, low-sugar)

Olive oil (for cooking)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easier cleanup.

Mix the Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, minced garlic, finely chopped onion, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Use your hands or a spoon to mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the meatballs tough.

Form the Meatballs: Using your hands, scoop out about 2 tablespoons of the mixture and roll it into a ball. Place the formed meatballs onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart. Repeat until all the mixture is used.

Bake the Meatballs: Lightly drizzle or spray olive oil over the meatballs for extra juiciness. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they are cooked through and reach an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).

Simmer in Sauce: While the meatballs are baking, heat the marinara sauce in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the meatballs are cooked, gently transfer them to the skillet with the marinara sauce. Simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Serve: Serve the juicy turkey meatballs warm, over your choice of whole grain pasta, zucchini noodles, or with a side salad. Sprinkle with additional parsley and Parmesan cheese if desired.
