Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade: 1 tsp chili powder, 1 tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp paprika, salt, and pepper to taste)

1 cup beef broth (or water)

8 small soft taco shells

1 cup shredded lettuce

1 tomato, diced

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 ripe avocado, sliced

Optional toppings: sour cream, salsa, and chopped cilantro

Instructions

Cook the Beef: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and cook until it's translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.

Brown the Meat: Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef. Cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned and no longer pink, approximately 5-7 minutes.

Season the Beef: Sprinkle taco seasoning over the browned beef, then pour in the beef broth (or water). Stir well and let it simmer for 5-10 minutes, until the mixture thickens slightly and is heated through.

Prepare the Taco Shells: While the beef mixture simmers, warm the soft taco shells according to the package instructions, or in a skillet for a few seconds on each side until soft.

Assemble the Tacos: To each taco shell, add a generous spoonful of the seasoned beef mixture. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomato, cheddar cheese, and slices of avocado.

Add Optional Toppings: If desired, add a dollop of sour cream, a drizzle of salsa, and a sprinkle of chopped cilantro for extra flavor.

Serve and Enjoy: Arrange the assembled tacos on a platter and let your family dig in!
