Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (preferably 80/20 for flavor)

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger

1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean red chili paste), adjust to taste

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup green onions, finely chopped (white and green parts separated)

2 teaspoons vegetable oil

2 cups cooked rice (white or brown)

1 cup steamed broccoli florets

1 carrot, julienned

Toasted sesame seeds, for garnish

Soft-boiled eggs (optional), for serving

Instructions

Prepare the Marinade: In a medium bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, ginger, gochujang, and black pepper. Stir well until the sugar has dissolved.

Cook the Beef: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the vegetable oil. Once hot, add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon (about 5-7 minutes).

Add Flavor: Drain excess fat if necessary. Pour in the marinade and stir to combine. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing the beef to absorb the flavors.

Finish with Green Onions: Add the white parts of the green onions to the skillet, stirring to incorporate them. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Once everything is well-mixed and heated through, remove from heat.

Assemble the Bowls: Scoop 1 cup of cooked rice into each serving bowl. Top with a generous portion of the Korean ground beef mixture.

Add Vegetables: Arrange the steamed broccoli and julienned carrots around the beef on top of the rice.

Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds and the green parts of the green onions on top. If desired, add a soft-boiled egg on top of the beef for extra richness.

Enjoy: Serve immediately while hot, allowing everyone to mix their ingredients together as they enjoy!
