4 large sweet potatoes (about 2 pounds)

1/2 cup maple syrup

1/4 cup bourbon

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup mini marshmallows (optional for the topping)

1/2 cup chopped pecans (for added crunch)

Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

    Prepare the sweet potatoes: Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into chunks. Place them in a large pot of boiling salted water and cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until they're tender when pierced with a fork. Drain and let cool slightly.
