Ingredients

2 cups milk (dairy or non-dairy of your choice)

1 cup water

2 black tea bags (or 2 teaspoons loose black tea)

2 tablespoons maple syrup (adjust to taste)

1 cinnamon stick

3-4 whole cloves

3-4 green cardamom pods

1/2 inch fresh ginger, sliced

1/4 teaspoon black peppercorns (optional, for a spicier kick)

Whipped cream or frothy milk (for topping, optional)

A sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Chai Spice Blend: In a small saucepan, combine the water, cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom pods, sliced ginger, and black peppercorns (if using). Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.

Steep the Tea: Once boiling, remove the pan from the heat and add the black tea bags. Let them steep for about 5 minutes, or until the tea reaches your desired strength.

Heat the Milk: While the tea is steeping, heat the milk in a separate pot over medium-low heat. Be careful not to let it boil; you want it to be hot and steamy.

Combine and Sweeten: After the tea has steeped, remove the tea bags and strain the tea into the pot with the hot milk. Stir in the maple syrup until well combined. Adjust sweetness if necessary by adding more maple syrup.

Blend for Froth (optional): For a frothy latte, you can use a milk frother, a blender, or whisk the milk mixture vigorously to create some froth.

Serve: Pour your warm maple chai latte into mugs or cups. Top with whipped cream or frothed milk, if desired, and sprinkle a little extra cinnamon or nutmeg on top for garnish.

Enjoy: Cozy up with your delicious Maple Chai Latte and savor the warm, comforting spices!
