Ingredients

For the Donut Holes:

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup milk

1/4 cup Greek yogurt (or sour cream)

1 large egg

2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

1 tbsp baking powder

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 tsp salt

Oil for frying (canola or vegetable oil)

For the Maple Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tbsp maple syrup

1-2 tbsp milk (adjust for consistency)

Pinch of salt

Instructions

Prepare the Donut Hole Batter:

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.

      Combine Wet Ingredients:

In a separate bowl, combine the milk, Greek yogurt, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.

          Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients:

Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.

              Heat the Oil:

In a deep pot or Dutch oven, heat about 2-3 inches of oil over medium heat to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to monitor the temperature for best frying results.

                  Fry the Donut Holes:

Once the oil is hot, using a small cookie scoop or your hands, carefully drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil. Fry a few at a time, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Cook until golden brown and cooked through, about 2-3 minutes on each side.

                      Drain & Cool:

Use a slotted spoon to transfer the donut holes to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Let them cool slightly while you prepare the glaze.

                          Make the Maple Glaze:

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and a pinch of salt until smooth. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk or maple syrup as needed (you want it to be pourable but thick enough to coat the donut holes).

                              Glaze the Donut Holes:

Once the donut holes are cool enough to handle, dip each one into the maple glaze, let any excess drip off, and place them on a wire rack to set for a few minutes.

                                  Serve:

Enjoy your delicious, homemade maple glazed donut holes warm, or store them in an airtight container for later!
