Ingredients

6 slices of thick bread (brioche or challah works best)

4 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

1/4 cup heavy cream

1/4 cup pure maple syrup (plus extra for serving)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 cup chopped pecans (toasted if preferred)

Pinch of salt

Butter (for frying)

Powdered sugar (for garnish, optional)

Fresh berries (for serving, optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Egg Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until well combined.

Soak the Bread: Place the slices of bread in the egg mixture. Allow them to soak for about 5-10 minutes, flipping them halfway through so they absorb the liquid evenly.

Toast the Pecans: If you’re using raw pecans, toast them in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 3-5 minutes until fragrant, stirring occasionally. Set aside to cool.

Heat the Skillet: Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add a pat of butter and let it melt until it starts to bubble.

Cook the French Toast: Carefully place the soaked bread slices on the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. You can add more butter to the skillet as needed.

Add the Pecans: Once you flip the French toast, sprinkle the toasted pecans on top of each slice so they stick as the other side cooks.

Serve: Transfer the French toast to plates, drizzle with additional maple syrup, and dust with powdered sugar if desired. Serve with fresh berries on the side.

Enjoy: Savor every delicious bite of your Maple Pecan Delight French Toast!
