Seasoning plays a pivotal role in bringing out the natural flavors of the ingredients in your Mini Caprese Bites. Salt and pepper are essential in enhancing the taste profiles of the fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil. A light sprinkle of salt not only intensifies the sweetness of the tomatoes but also balances the creaminess of the mozzarella. Similarly, freshly cracked pepper adds a subtle heat that can elevate the overall flavor experience. When assembling your bites, remember to season each layer lightly to ensure that every component shines through.

Ingredients

12 cherry tomatoes

12 fresh basil leaves

12 small mozzarella balls (bocconcini)

3 tablespoons balsamic glaze

2 tablespoons olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

12 toothpicks or small skewers

Instructions

Prep the Tomatoes: Start by washing the cherry tomatoes thoroughly. Cut a small X on the bottom of each tomato to help release steam if you choose to roast them, but they can be left raw for freshness.

Prepare the Mozzarella: If your mozzarella balls are larger than a cherry tomato, cut them in half to match sizes. This ensures a balanced bite.

Assemble the Bites: On each toothpick or skewer, thread a cherry tomato, followed by a fresh basil leaf, and then a mozzarella ball. Repeat this order until all ingredients are used.

Drizzle and Season: Place the assembled bites on a serving platter. Drizzle them with olive oil and balsamic glaze. Season lightly with salt and pepper to enhance the flavors.

Chill and Serve: If desired, let the bites chill in the refrigerator for about 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Serve cold or at room temperature.
