Ingredients

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

1 bunch asparagus, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces

4 tablespoons olive oil, divided

4 cloves garlic, minced

Zest and juice of 1 lemon

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for spice)

Salt and black pepper, to taste

½ teaspoon smoked paprika

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

Prepare Ingredients: Start by rinsing the shrimp under cold water and patting them dry with paper towels. Trim and cut the asparagus, and set all the ingredients within reach.

Season the Shrimp: In a medium bowl, combine the shrimp with 2 tablespoons of olive oil, minced garlic, lemon zest, red pepper flakes (if using), smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Toss well to coat the shrimp evenly in the seasoning. Let it marinate while you prepare the asparagus.

Cook Asparagus: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Once hot, add the asparagus pieces and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until they are tender-crisp and bright green. Season lightly with salt and pepper, then transfer the asparagus to a plate and set aside.

Cook Shrimp: In the same skillet, add the marinated shrimp in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until the shrimp turn pink and are cooked through. Be careful not to overcook them.

Combine Ingredients: Once the shrimp are cooked, return the asparagus to the skillet. Squeeze the lemon juice over the shrimp and asparagus and gently toss everything together to combine. Cook for an additional minute until everything is warmed through.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat, sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley, and serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side for an extra zing.
