Ingredients

1 cup water

1/2 cup unsalted butter

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)

Optional: Chocolate sauce for dipping

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Make the Churro Dough: In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in the flour until a dough forms.

Add Eggs and Flavor: Allow the dough to cool slightly. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add the vanilla extract and mix until smooth.

Pipe the Churros: Using a piping bag fitted with a star tip, pipe 4 to 6-inch strips of dough onto the prepared baking sheet. Leave some space between each churro as they will expand while baking.

Bake the Churros: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and firm to the touch.

Prepare the Cinnamon Sugar: While the churros are baking, mix 1/2 cup of sugar with the ground cinnamon in a shallow bowl.

Coat the Churros: Once the churros are finished baking, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a minute. While still warm, roll each churro in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.

Serve: Serve the churros warm, with optional chocolate sauce for dipping. Enjoy your delicious homemade oven-baked cinnamon churros!
