Ingredients

4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)

1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)

1/4 cup honey

2 tablespoons rice vinegar

2 tablespoons fresh orange juice

1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1/2 teaspoon black sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

2 green onions, thinly sliced (for garnish)

Salt and pepper, to taste

Cooked rice or quinoa (for serving)

Fresh vegetables, steamed (for serving)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Prepare the Marinade: In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, orange juice, grated ginger, minced garlic, and sesame oil until well combined.

Marinate the Salmon: Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Cover and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes (up to 2 hours for a deeper flavor).

Arrange in Baking Dish: Remove the salmon from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and re-season it lightly with salt and pepper. Place the fillets in a greased baking dish or on a lined baking sheet.

Bake the Salmon: Bake the salmon in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork. You can broil it for the last 1-2 minutes for a caramelized finish.

Prepare the Sauce: While the salmon is baking, pour the reserved marinade into a small saucepan. Bring it to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to a simmer for about 5-7 minutes, or until slightly thickened.

Serve: Remove the salmon from the oven and drizzle the thickened teriyaki sauce over the top. Garnish with black sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

Plate it Up: Serve the teriyaki salmon over cooked rice or quinoa, accompanied by steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
