1 cup pecan halves

1 cup almonds, sliced

2 cups granulated sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1/2 cup corn syrup

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 cup crispy rice cereal

Instructions
 

Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

    Toast the Nuts: In a dry skillet over medium heat, toast the pecan halves and sliced almonds until fragrant, about 4-5 minutes. Stir frequently to prevent burning. Once toasted, remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.

      Make the Caramel Mixture: In a medium saucepan, combine granulated sugar, unsalted butter, corn syrup, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture comes to a boil. Allow it to boil for 3-4 minutes without stirring, until it becomes a light amber color.

        Add Flavor and Rising Agent: Remove the saucepan from heat and quickly stir in the vanilla extract and baking soda. The mixture will bubble up; that's normal!

          Combine with Nuts and Cereal: In a large mixing bowl, combine the toasted nuts and crispy rice cereal. Pour the caramel mixture over the nut and cereal mixture and stir until everything is evenly coated.

            Spread and Bake: Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking sheet and spread it into an even layer. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the caramel is set and the mixture turns golden brown.

              Cool and Break Apart: Remove from the oven and let it cool completely on the baking sheet. Once cooled, break it into clusters or bars as desired.
