Ingredients

1 box red velvet cake mix (and ingredients needed to prepare)

2 cups heavy whipping cream

1 cup powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 cups cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 cups strawberries, diced (or mixed berries)

1 cup chocolate shavings (optional)

1/4 cup cocoa powder (for dusting)

Instructions

Prepare the Cake: Preheat your oven as directed on the red velvet cake mix box. Prepare the cake batter according to the package instructions, then bake in a round cake pan until a toothpick comes out clean. Let it cool completely.

Make the Whipped Cream: In a large mixing bowl, pour in the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and 1 tsp vanilla extract. Using a hand mixer, whip the cream until soft peaks form. Set aside.

Prepare the Cream Cheese Mixture: In another bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and 1 tsp vanilla extract until smooth and fluffy.

Combine the Mixtures: Gently fold half of the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until combined. Carefully fold in the other half until smooth and creamy.

Assemble the Trifle: Cut the cooled red velvet cake into cubes. In a large trifle dish or individual dessert glasses, layer the cake cubes, followed by a layer of the cream cheese mixture, then a layer of diced strawberries. Repeat the layering until you reach the top of the dish, finishing with a layer of the cream cheese mixture.

Garnish: Top the trifle with the remaining whipped cream and sprinkle cocoa powder over the top. Add chocolate shavings for an extra touch if desired.

Chill: Cover the trifle and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, allowing the flavors to meld and the dessert to set.

Serve: Once chilled, scoop servings into bowls and enjoy your stunning Red Velvet Trifle! Perfect for celebrating love on Valentine’s Day or any special occasion.
