Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1/4 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup finely chopped onion

1 egg, beaten

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 cups beef broth

1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional for thickening)

1 tablespoon water (optional for cornstarch slurry)

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, beaten egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.

Shape the mixture into 4 oval patties.

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they are browned and cooked through. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.

In the same skillet, add the beef broth and Dijon mustard, scraping the bottom of the pan to deglaze and pick up any browned bits.

If you prefer a thicker gravy, in a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Add this to the skillet while stirring gently until the gravy thickens, about 3-5 minutes.

Return the cooked Salisbury steaks to the skillet, allowing them to simmer in the gravy for about 5 minutes to soak up the flavors.

Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.

Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley. Pair it with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables.
