Ingredients

1 pre-made pie crust (9-inch)

6 large eggs

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup whole milk

1 cup grated Gruyère cheese

1 cup cooked and crumbled bacon (about 6 strips)

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 clove garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (or ½ teaspoon dried thyme)

Salt and black pepper to taste

Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the Crust: Place the pre-made pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish. Press it firmly against the sides and bottom, trimming any excess dough hanging over the edges. Poke the bottom with a fork to create small holes (docking) to prevent puffing.

Cook the Bacon: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon strips until crispy. Remove them from the skillet and place them on paper towels to drain excess grease. Once cooled, crumble the bacon into bite-sized pieces.

Sauté the Vegetables: In the same skillet, drain most of the bacon grease, leaving about 1 tablespoon. Add the finely chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute, until fragrant. Remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.

Mix the Filling: In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, and milk until well blended. Stir in the grated Gruyère cheese, crumbled bacon, sautéed onions and garlic, thyme, salt, and black pepper to taste.

Combine and Pour: Pour the egg mixture into the prepared pie shell, spreading it evenly.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the quiche is set and the top is lightly golden. You can check if it’s done by inserting a knife in the center; it should come out clean.

Cool and Serve: Let the quiche cool for about 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve warm or at room temperature.
