Ingredients

1 lb (450g) beef sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain

4 cups broccoli florets (about 1 small head)

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon ginger, minced

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1/4 cup beef broth or water

1 teaspoon sesame oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Cooked jasmine rice for serving

Sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Marinade: In a bowl, combine the beef slices, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well to coat the beef evenly. Let it marinate for about 10 minutes while you prepare the veggies.

Steam the Broccoli: Meanwhile, bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the broccoli florets and steam them for about 2-3 minutes until bright green and just tender. Drain and set aside.

Stir-Fry the Beef: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer (you may need to do this in batches) and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes or until the beef is browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

Sauté Aromatics: Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the same skillet. Add the minced garlic and ginger, and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Combine Ingredients: Return the beef to the skillet along with the steamed broccoli. Pour in the beef broth (or water) and sesame oil, and stir everything together. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook for an additional 2 minutes to heat through.

Serve: Remove from heat. Serve the beef and broccoli stir-fry over cooked jasmine rice, and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
