Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (or turkey)

1 medium onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 green bell pepper, diced

1 cup ketchup

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp mustard powder

1 tsp chili powder

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 can (12 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the Ground Meat: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef (or turkey). Cook until browned, breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon, about 5-7 minutes.

Add Vegetables: Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and diced green bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté for an additional 3-5 minutes until the veggies are softened.

Make the Sauce: Stir in the ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard powder, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes to blend the flavors.

Layer the Ingredients: In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, pour the sloppy joe mixture evenly. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top.

Prepare the Biscuits: Open the can of biscuit dough and separate the dough into individual biscuits. Cut each biscuit into quarters and place them on top of the cheese layer. It’s okay if they overlap a bit.

Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.

Garnish and Serve: Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
