4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes, with juices

1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup chicken broth

1 small onion, finely chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon sugar

Salt and black pepper, to taste

1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped (plus extra for garnish)

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 tablespoons olive oil

Cooked pasta or rice, for serving

Instructions
 

Sauté Aromatics: In a skillet over medium heat, warm the olive oil. Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 5 minutes until soft. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat.

    Prepare the Slow Cooker: In the bottom of your slow cooker, combine the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chicken broth, and heavy cream. Stir in the Italian seasoning, sugar, salt, and black pepper.

      Layer the Chicken: Place the chicken breasts into the slow cooker, ensuring that they are submerged in the sauce. Pour the sautéed onion and garlic mixture over the chicken.
