Ingredients

1 lb ground turkey

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1-2 chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, chopped (adjust for spice preference)

1 tablespoon adobo sauce (from the chipotle pepper can)

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon ground cumin

½ teaspoon chili powder

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon black pepper

1 cup tomato sauce

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

12 slider buns

1 cup shredded lettuce (for topping)

1 ripe avocado, sliced (for topping)

Sliced jalapeños (optional, for extra heat)

Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the base: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant.

Brown the turkey: Add the ground turkey to the skillet, using a spatula to break it apart. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.

Add the spices: Stir in the chopped chipotle peppers, adobo sauce, smoked paprika, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well to incorporate all the spices into the turkey mixture.

Simmer the sauce: Pour in the tomato sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Let it cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the flavors meld together and the sauce slightly thickens.

Prepare the sliders: While the turkey mixture simmers, slice the slider buns in half if they aren’t pre-sliced. You can lightly toast them on a skillet or under a broiler for extra flavor and texture.

Assemble the sliders: Spoon a generous amount of the spicy turkey mixture onto the bottom half of each slider bun. Top with shredded lettuce, a slice of avocado, and jalapeños if using. Finish with the top half of the buns.

Garnish and serve: Sprinkle fresh cilantro over the sliders for a burst of freshness. Serve warm with your favorite sides, such as sweet potato fries or a crisp salad.
