Ingredients

1 lb (450g) beef sirloin, thinly sliced

3 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean red chili paste)

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 tablespoon ginger, grated

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for cooking)

1 small onion, thinly sliced

1 carrot, julienned

3 green onions, chopped

Sesame seeds, for garnish

Lettuce leaves, for serving (optional)

Instructions

In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, gochujang, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and rice vinegar. Mix well to create a marinade.

Add the thinly sliced beef to the marinade, ensuring the meat is fully coated. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes (up to overnight for deeper flavor).

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef, including all the marinade.

Sauté the beef for about 5-7 minutes, or until fully cooked and nicely caramelized.

Add the sliced onion and julienned carrot to the pan. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, until the vegetables are tender-crisp.

Stir in the chopped green onions, cooking for another minute.

Remove from heat and transfer the beef bulgogi to a serving dish. Garnish with sesame seeds.

Serve hot, wrapped in lettuce leaves if desired, or alongside steamed rice.
