Ingredients

1 cup warm milk (110°F or 45°C)

2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)

¼ cup granulated sugar

¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

3 ½ to 4 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon garlic powder

2 tablespoons fresh dill, finely chopped (or 1 tablespoon dried dill)

1 tablespoon olive oil (for brushing)

1 teaspoon sea salt (for topping)

Instructions

Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm milk, granulated sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and egg. Once the yeast mixture is frothy, add it to the butter and egg mixture.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, sift together 3 ½ cups of flour, salt, garlic powder, and fresh dill.

Form the Dough: Gradually add the dry mixture into the wet ingredients, mixing until a sticky dough begins to form. If the dough feels too sticky, add more flour, a tablespoon at a time, until it is manageable but still soft.

Knead the Dough: Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

First Rise: Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.

Shape the Rolls: After the dough has risen, punch it down gently. Divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them on a greased baking sheet, leaving some space in between.

Second Rise: Cover the shaped rolls with a cloth and let them rise again for about 30-45 minutes until they puff up.

Bake the Rolls: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Once the rolls have risen, brush them lightly with olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until they are golden brown on top.

Cool and Serve: Remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool for 5 minutes on a wire rack. Enjoy them warm as a side dish or snack!
