Ingredients

2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup heavy whipping cream

1 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for whipping cream)

1 package (12 oz) store-bought pound cake or sponge cake, sliced

Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Strawberries: In a medium bowl, combine the sliced strawberries and granulated sugar. Toss gently and let them sit for about 30 minutes at room temperature until they become juicy.

Make the Whipped Cream: In a large mixing bowl, use a hand mixer or a whisk to whip the heavy cream until it begins to thicken. Gradually add the powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, then continue to whip until soft peaks form.

      Assemble the Cake:

        - In a 9x13 inch baking dish, lay down a layer of cake slices to cover the bottom completely.

          - Spread a layer of whipped cream over the cake slices, followed by half of the macerated strawberries.

            - Repeat the layering process by adding another layer of cake slices, whipped cream, and the remaining strawberries.

Final Touch: Top the last layer with any remaining whipped cream. Smooth it out and give it a gentle swirl to create a lovely finish.

Chill: Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for the flavors to meld and the cake to set properly.

Serve: When ready to serve, cut into squares and garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired. Enjoy the delightful layers of strawberries, cake, and whipped cream!
