Ingredients

1 package (16 oz) cream cheese, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup sour cream

1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 lemons)

Zest of 1 lemon

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 package (15.25 oz) lemon cake mix

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 cups fresh blueberries or other berries (optional)

Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the Cream Cheese Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, sour cream, lemon juice, lemon zest, and vanilla extract. Using an electric mixer, blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy.

      Prepare the Cake Base:

        - In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, pour the cream cheese mixture evenly across the bottom.

          - Sprinkle the lemon cake mix evenly over the cream cheese layer without stirring it in.

Add Berries (Optional): If using, add a layer of fresh blueberries or other chosen berries over the cake mix.

Add the Butter: Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the top of the cake mix. Do not stir, as the butter will create a buttery crust as it bakes.

Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the edges are bubbly.

Cool and Serve: Allow the cake to cool for at least 15 minutes before serving. Dust with powdered sugar, if desired. This dish can be served warm, at room temperature, or even chilled.
