Mother-in-Law Stole From My Bag at Midnight—Then Called Airport Security to Stop Me

Mother-in-Law Stole From My Bag at Midnight—Then Called Airport Security to Stop Me
← Previous Part (1) Reading Part 2 of 3

"We need to get you out of here," he said, as soon as the feed finished. "Now." I nodded, grabbing my bag and following him out of the room. We moved quickly and quietly, trying not to alert anyone to our departure. But as we reached the front door, I heard a voice behind us. "Where do you think you're going?" it said.

I turned to see my husband standing in the hallway, a look of surprise and concern on his face. But as I looked into his eyes, I saw something else there too - something that made my blood run cold. It was a glimmer of knowledge, a hint that he knew exactly what was going on. And in that moment, I realized that I was in grave danger, and that I couldn't trust anyone...

Chapter 3: The Hidden Agenda

We managed to get out of the house without my husband stopping us, but I could feel his eyes on us as we left. My contact drove me to a safe house on the outskirts of town, where we could talk without being overheard. As we sat down in the living room, he turned to me and said, "I think it's time you knew the truth."

"What truth?" I asked, my mind racing with possibilities. He leaned forward, his eyes locked on mine. "Your mother-in-law has been embezzling funds from the hotel group for years," he said. "And your husband is in on it too." I felt like I had been punched in the gut. I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

"Why?" I asked, trying to process the information. My contact shrugged. "Greed, I suppose. They want to take control of the hotel group, and they're willing to do whatever it takes to get it." I thought back to all the times my mother-in-law had belittled me, called me the "decorative shareholder". It was all a ruse, a way to keep me in the dark while they carried out their plan.

But as I sat there, trying to make sense of it all, I realized that I had a card to play. I had 52% of the shares in the hotel group, and I could use that to take them down. I felt a surge of determination and anger, and I knew that I was ready to fight. But as we sat there, planning our next move, I heard a noise outside. It sounded like someone was trying to get in...

Chapter 4: The Airport Confrontation

We managed to get to the airport without being detected, but as we walked through the terminal, I could feel eyes on us. My contact had arranged for a private security team to escort me to the gate, but I knew that my mother-in-law and husband would stop at nothing to prevent me from boarding that plane.

As we approached the security checkpoint, I saw them waiting for us. My mother-in-law was smiling, a look of triumph on her face. My husband was standing beside her, his eyes cold and hard. "I don't think you'll be going anywhere," my mother-in-law said, as she stepped forward. "You see, we've had a report of a suspicious item in your bag."

I knew that this was it, the moment of truth. I turned to my contact, and he nodded. We had planned for this contingency, and we were ready. "I think you'll find that the item in my bag is not what you think it is," I said, smiling sweetly at my mother-in-law. "In fact, I think you'll find that it's a small, dark object that was planted there by someone else."

The truth was finally coming out — and there was no turning back now… (Continue to Part 3 →)
